What is Messianic Dance?
Messianic Dance is traditional Jewish folk dance steps set to contemporary worship music. It also includes certain Israeli dances and songs that are spiritual in nature or taken directly from the Scriptures.
Is Messianic Dance Scriptural?
Yes. The bible gives many instances of dancing.
It has been an expression of joy, praise, adoration, love, and redemption that the Lord has shown His people. (Judg. 21:21, 1 Sam. 21:11, 2 Sam. 6:14, Jer. 31:13)
There are also examples of dance as warfare and God's triumph. (Ex. 15:20, 2 Chr. 20:21)
Dance was an integral part of celebration during the Second Temple period in the time of Yeshua (Jesus).
Why do we Celebrate Shabbat and Havdalah at the dance camp?
The Shabbat is an eternal covenant of rest between God and His people. It is a celebration of when God rested on the seventh day. It is prescribed that the Sabbath day begins Friday at sunset. It is traditional to light the candles at dusk as a part of Shabbat observance and is a beautiful way of entering into God's rest.
Likewise, Havdalah is the customary way of ending the Sabbath. The celebration Saturday night includes songs and prayers sung about the eternal Sabbath we will have with the Lord.

Why call Jesus 'Yeshua'?
In Judaism, Hebrew is considered the heavenly tongue. Yeshua was the name Jesus was known by while on earth. The actual meaning of Yeshua translated from Hebrew is "Salvation of God".
Who can participate at a dance camp?
At this time anyone who is over ten years of age and does not have any physical limitations that would unable them to dance may participate.
What do I wear at a dance camp?
You should dress in modest attire that you can move freely in. Good examples are loose shirts, comfortable pants or long shorts. Your shoes need to be either dance or athletic without black soles.
What do I bring to a dance camp?
Linens and regular meals are included in the dance camp. Water will be available in each dance room. You may want to bring the following: bible, swim wear, extra towels, camera, umbrella, snacks for your room, and spending money. |
